What you’re entering

This is a lottery for a limited number of spots on the November 7 Return to Utah Slots hike in Palo Duro Canyon.

  • Entering does not guarantee a spot. Spots are limited and winners are drawn at random.
  • You must confirm your email to be entered. After you submit, we’ll email you a confirmation link. Unconfirmed entries are not included in the drawing.
  • Winners are notified by email. Meeting place, time, and trip details will come to winners.
  • Entries close October 31, 2026. The drawing is October 31.
  • You must be 18 or older. Entrants and partners must be at least 18 years old.
  • Expect over a thousand feet of elevation change. You’ll start in the canyon, climb up onto the mesa, drop back down into the next canyon, climb out onto the mesa again, and then descend to finish, so be ready for steep climbs and descents both going and coming back.
  • One entry per person. You may bring one partner on your entry (see below).

Before you enter, you must be 18 or older and able to:

  • Hiker with a daypack scrambling up sandstone
    Scramble up & down rocks
  • Hiker standing between narrow slot canyon walls
    Fit through narrow slots
  • Hiker with a daypack on the canyon rim
    Carry 3L of water 6+ miles

A winning entry covers both of you. Your partner must also be 18 or older and able to scramble up & down rocks, fit through narrow slots, and carry 3L of water 6+ miles.
